How To Install elpa-assess on Ubuntu 18.04

What is elpa-assess
elpa-assess is:
This package provides functions to support ert, the Emacs Regression Test framework. It includes:
- a set of predicates for comparing strings, buffers and file contents;
- explainer functions for all predicates giving useful output;
- macros for creating many temporary buffers at once, and for restoring the buffer list;
- methods for testing indentation, by comparison or “round-tripping”;
- methods for testing fontification;
Assess aims to be a stateless as possible, leaving Emacs unchanged whether the tests succeed or fail, with respect to buffers, open files and so on; this helps to keep tests independent from each other. Violations of this will be considered a bug.
Assess aims also to be as noiseless as possible, reducing and suppressing extraneous messages where possible, to leave a clean ert output in batch mode.
There are three methods to install elpa-assess on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install elpa-assess Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install elpa-assess using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install elpa-assess

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install elpa-assess using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install elpa-assess
Install elpa-assess Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install elpa-assess using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install elpa-assess
How To Uninstall elpa-assess on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the elpa-assess package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove elpa-assess
Uninstall elpa-assess And Its Dependencies
To uninstall elpa-assess and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove elpa-assess
Remove elpa-assess Configurations and Data
To remove elpa-assess configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge elpa-assess
Remove elpa-assess configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove elpa-assess configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge elpa-assess
