What is docker-containerd

docker-containerd is:

Containerd is a daemon to control runC, built for performance and density. Containerd leverages runC’s advanced features such as seccomp and user namespace support as well as checkpoint and restore for cloning and live migration of containers.

This package contains the version to be used with the docker.io package, and provides all binaries with a “docker-” prefix.

There are three methods to install docker-containerd on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install docker-containerd Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install docker-containerd using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install docker-containerd

Install docker-containerd Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install docker-containerd using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install docker-containerd

Install docker-containerd Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install docker-containerd using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install docker-containerd

How To Uninstall docker-containerd on Ubuntu 18.04

To uninstall only the docker-containerd package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove docker-containerd

Uninstall docker-containerd And Its Dependencies

To uninstall docker-containerd and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove docker-containerd

Remove docker-containerd Configurations and Data

To remove docker-containerd configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge docker-containerd

Remove docker-containerd configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove docker-containerd configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge docker-containerd
