These are Java extensions for use with the DocBook XML stylesheets and the Saxon XSLT engine. You need these extensions to enable e.g. the callouts and linenumbering extensions of the docbook-xsl suite.

In the past these extensions were shipped with the docbook-xsl tarball distribution directly.

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install docbook-xsl-saxon using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install docbook-xsl-saxon

Install docbook-xsl-saxon Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install docbook-xsl-saxon using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install docbook-xsl-saxon

How To Uninstall docbook-xsl-saxon on Ubuntu 18.04

sudo apt-get -y purge docbook-xsl-saxon

We can use the following command to remove docbook-xsl-saxon configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
