What is debug-me
debug-me is:
Debugging a problem over email/irc/BTS is slow, tedious, and hard. The developer needs to see the your problem to understand it. Debug-me aims to make debugging fast, fun, and easy, by letting the developer access your computer remotely, so they can immediately see and interact with the problem. Making your problem their problem gets it fixed fast.
A debug-me session is logged and signed with the developer’s GnuPG key, producing a chain of evidence of what they saw and what they did. So the developer’s good reputation is leveraged to make debug-me secure. If you trust a developer to ship software to your computer, you can trust them to debug-me.
This package should be installed by desktop users – both developers who want to debug, and users who want their problems debugged. To set up a debug-me server, install the debug-me-server package.
There are three methods to install debug-me on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install debug-me Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install debug-me using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install debug-me
Install debug-me Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install debug-me using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install debug-me
Install debug-me Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install debug-me using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install debug-me
How To Uninstall debug-me on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the debug-me package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove debug-me

To uninstall debug-me and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove debug-me
Remove debug-me Configurations and Data
To remove debug-me configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge debug-me
Remove debug-me configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove debug-me configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge debug-me
