What is cyrus-doc

cyrus-doc is:

Cyrus is an IMAP server designed to handle massive quantities of mail, with a number of features not found in other IMAP implementations, including support for:

  • running the daemon without root privileges;
  • POP3 and NNTP in addition to plain IMAP;
  • CalDAV and CardDAV;
  • secure IMAP using SSL;
  • server-side filtering with Sieve;
  • mail users without login accounts;
  • simple mail quotas;
  • virtual domains;
  • IPv6.

There are three methods to install cyrus-doc on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install cyrus-doc Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install cyrus-doc using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install cyrus-doc

Install cyrus-doc Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install cyrus-doc using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install cyrus-doc

Install cyrus-doc Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install cyrus-doc using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install cyrus-doc

How To Uninstall cyrus-doc on Ubuntu 18.04

To uninstall only the cyrus-doc package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove cyrus-doc

Uninstall cyrus-doc And Its Dependencies

To uninstall cyrus-doc and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove cyrus-doc

Remove cyrus-doc Configurations and Data

To remove cyrus-doc configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge cyrus-doc

Remove cyrus-doc configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove cyrus-doc configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge cyrus-doc
