What is corosync-qnetd

corosync-qnetd is:

The Corosync Cluster Engine is a Group Communication System with additional features for implementing high availability within applications. The project provides four C Application Programming Interface features:

  • A closed process group communication model with virtual synchrony guarantees for creating replicated state machines.
  • A simple availability manager that restarts the application process when it has failed.
  • A configuration and statistics in-memory database that provide the ability to set, retrieve, and receive change notifications of information.
  • A quorum system that notifies applications when quorum is achieved or lost.

This package contains the quorum device network daemon running outside of clusters with the purpose of providing votes to the corosync-qdevice model “net”, and some utilities for it.

There are three methods to install corosync-qnetd on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install corosync-qnetd Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install corosync-qnetd using apt-get by running the following command:

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install corosync-qnetd using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install corosync-qnetd

Install corosync-qnetd Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install corosync-qnetd using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install corosync-qnetd

How To Uninstall corosync-qnetd on Ubuntu 18.04
