What is clang-format

clang-format is:

Clang-format is both a library and a stand-alone tool with the goal of automatically reformatting C++ sources files according to configurable style guides. To do so, clang-format uses Clang’s Lexer to transform an input file into a token stream and then changes all the whitespace around those tokens. The goal is for clang-format to both serve both as a user tool (ideally with powerful IDE integrations) and part of other refactoring tools, e.g. to do a reformatting of all the lines changed during a renaming.

There are three methods to install clang-format on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

After updating apt database, We can install clang-format using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install clang-format

How To Uninstall clang-format on Ubuntu 18.04

To uninstall only the clang-format package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove clang-format

To uninstall clang-format and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove clang-format

Remove clang-format Configurations and Data

To remove clang-format configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge clang-format

Remove clang-format configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove clang-format configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
