In this tutorial we learn how to install cl-mcclim on Ubuntu 18.04.

What is cl-mcclim

cl-mcclim is:

McCLIM is a free implementation of the CLIM specification. CLIM (Common Lisp Interface Manager) is a cross-platform, cross-implementation graphic user interface toolkit for Common Lisp programs.

This package contains the McCLIM library.

Please note that a CLX implementation compatible with your CL system, i.e. cl-clx-sbcl for sbcl and cmucl-source for cmucl, is required to compile and run cl-mcclim.

There are three methods to install cl-mcclim on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install cl-mcclim Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install cl-mcclim using apt-get by running the following command:

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

Install cl-mcclim Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

After updating apt database, We can install cl-mcclim using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install cl-mcclim

How To Uninstall cl-mcclim on Ubuntu 18.04

To uninstall only the cl-mcclim package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove cl-mcclim

Uninstall cl-mcclim And Its Dependencies

To uninstall cl-mcclim and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove cl-mcclim

To remove cl-mcclim configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge cl-mcclim
