How To Install cipux-rpcd on Ubuntu 18.04
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install cipux-rpcd
on Ubuntu 18.04.
What is cipux-rpcd
cipux-rpcd is:
CipUX is a modular framework for information abstraction and administration, primarily aimed at administration of users, groups and organisational resources stored in a central LDAP database.
CAT is CipUX Administration Tools. Two CATs are provided officially with CipUX:
- cipux-cat: generic web-based CAT
- cipux-cat-moodle: CipUX plugin for Moodle These can be extended or replaced with custom tools.
This package contains the CipUX XML-RPC daemon, serving the CipUX::Task API for network-based appplications. Any XML-RPC application can access the CipUX::Task API and perform tasks, like creating users and other objects, inside the CipUX framework.
There are three methods to install cipux-rpcd
on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install cipux-rpcd Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install cipux-rpcd
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install cipux-rpcd
Install cipux-rpcd Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install cipux-rpcd
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install cipux-rpcd
Install cipux-rpcd Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install cipux-rpcd
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install cipux-rpcd
How To Uninstall cipux-rpcd on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the cipux-rpcd
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove cipux-rpcd
Uninstall cipux-rpcd And Its Dependencies
To uninstall cipux-rpcd
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove cipux-rpcd
Remove cipux-rpcd Configurations and Data
To remove cipux-rpcd
configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge cipux-rpcd
Remove cipux-rpcd configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove cipux-rpcd
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge cipux-rpcd
