How To Install check-mk-multisite on Ubuntu 18.04

What is check-mk-multisite
check-mk-multisite is:
Check_mk adopts a new a approach for collecting data from operating systems and network components. It obsoletes NRPE, check_by_ssh, NSClient and check_snmp. It has many benefits, the most important of which are:
- Significant reduction of CPU usage on the Nagios host.
- Automatic inventory of items to be checked on hosts.
This package contains the webfrontend of check_mk also known as “MK-Multisite”
There are three methods to install check-mk-multisite
on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install check-mk-multisite Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install check-mk-multisite
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install check-mk-multisite
Install check-mk-multisite Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install check-mk-multisite
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install check-mk-multisite
Install check-mk-multisite Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update

How To Uninstall check-mk-multisite on Ubuntu 18.04

To uninstall check-mk-multisite
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove check-mk-multisite
Remove check-mk-multisite Configurations and Data
To remove check-mk-multisite
configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge check-mk-multisite
Remove check-mk-multisite configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove check-mk-multisite
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge check-mk-multisite
