How To Install check-mk-agent on Ubuntu 18.04

check-mk-agent is:
Check_mk adopts a new a approach for collecting data from operating systems and network components. It obsoletes NRPE, check_by_ssh, NSClient and check_snmp. It has many benefits, the most important of which are:
- Significant reduction of CPU usage on the monitoring host.
- Automatic inventory of items to be checked on hosts.
This package contains the agent part of check-mk.
There are three methods to install check-mk-agent on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install check-mk-agent Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install check-mk-agent using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install check-mk-agent
Install check-mk-agent Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install check-mk-agent using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install check-mk-agent
Install check-mk-agent Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install check-mk-agent using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install check-mk-agent
How To Uninstall check-mk-agent on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the check-mk-agent package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove check-mk-agent

To uninstall check-mk-agent and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove check-mk-agent
Remove check-mk-agent Configurations and Data
To remove check-mk-agent configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge check-mk-agent

We can use the following command to remove check-mk-agent configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
