What is cantor-dev
cantor-dev is:
Cantor is an application to allow you to you use your favorite mathematical applications from within an elegant worksheet interface. It provides dialogs to assist with common tasks and allows you to share your worksheets with others.
Cantor supports various mathematical applications as backends (provided in external packages):
- Maxima Computer Algebra System (cantor-backend-maxima)
- R Project for Statistical Computing (cantor-backend-r)
- Sage Mathematics Software (cantor-backend-sage)
- Octave (cantor-backend-octave)
- Python (cantor-backend-python2 and cantor-backend-python3)
- Scilab (cantor-backend-scilab)
- Qalculate! (cantor-backend-qalculate)
- Lua (cantor-backend-lua)

This package contains development files for cantor.
There are three methods to install cantor-dev
on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install cantor-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install cantor-dev
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install cantor-dev
Install cantor-dev Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install cantor-dev
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install cantor-dev
Install cantor-dev Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install cantor-dev
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install cantor-dev
How To Uninstall cantor-dev on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the cantor-dev
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove cantor-dev
Uninstall cantor-dev And Its Dependencies
To uninstall cantor-dev
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove cantor-dev
Remove cantor-dev Configurations and Data
To remove cantor-dev
configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge cantor-dev
Remove cantor-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove cantor-dev
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge cantor-dev
