What is avahi-discover

avahi-discover is:

Avahi is a fully LGPL framework for Multicast DNS Service Discovery. It allows programs to publish and discover services and hosts running on a local network with no specific configuration. For example you can plug into a network and instantly find printers to print to, files to look at and people to talk to.

This package contains a user interface for discovering services.

There are three methods to install avahi-discover on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install avahi-discover Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install avahi-discover using apt-get by running the following command:

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update
