How To Install aufs-tools on Ubuntu 18.04

What is aufs-tools
aufs-tools is:
The aufs driver provides a union mount for Linux filesystems. It allows one to virtually merge the contents of several directories and/or stack them, so that file changes in the aufs union mount end up as changes in only one of the source directories.
This package contains utilities needed to configure aufs containers on-the-fly.
There are three methods to install aufs-tools
on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install aufs-tools Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install aufs-tools
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install aufs-tools

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install aufs-tools
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install aufs-tools
Install aufs-tools Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install aufs-tools
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install aufs-tools
How To Uninstall aufs-tools on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the aufs-tools
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove aufs-tools
Uninstall aufs-tools And Its Dependencies
To uninstall aufs-tools
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove aufs-tools
Remove aufs-tools Configurations and Data
To remove aufs-tools
configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge aufs-tools
Remove aufs-tools configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove aufs-tools
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
