How To Install mcl on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install mcl on Kali Linux. mcl is Markov Cluster algorithm

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install mcl on Kali Linux.

What is mcl

The MCL package is an implementation of the MCL algorithm, and offers utilities for manipulating sparse matrices (the essential data structure in the MCL algorithm) and conducting cluster experiments.

MCL is currently being used in sciences like biology (protein family detection, genomics), computer science (node clustering in Peer-to-Peer networks), and linguistics (text analysis).

There are three ways to install mcl on Kali Linux . We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install mcl Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install mcl using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install mcl

Install mcl Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install mcl using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install mcl

Install mcl Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install mcl using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install mcl

How To Uninstall mcl on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the mcl package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove mcl

Uninstall mcl And Its Dependencies

To uninstall mcl and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove mcl

Remove mcl Configurations and Data

To remove mcl configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge mcl

Remove mcl configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove mcl configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge mcl
