What is mandoc

mandoc is:

mandoc is a suite of tools compiling mdoc, the roff macro language of choice for BSD manual pages, and man, the predominant historical language for UNIX manuals. It is small, ISO C, ISC-licensed, and quite fast. The main component of the toolset is the mandoc utility program, based on the libmandoc validating compiler, to format output for UNIX terminals (with support for wide-character locales), XHTML, HTML, PostScript, and PDF.

There are three methods to install mandoc on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install mandoc Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install mandoc using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install mandoc

Install mandoc Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install mandoc using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install mandoc

Install mandoc Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install mandoc using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install mandoc

How To Uninstall mandoc on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the mandoc package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove mandoc

Uninstall mandoc And Its Dependencies

To uninstall mandoc and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove mandoc

Remove mandoc Configurations and Data

To remove mandoc configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge mandoc
