How To Install labplot on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install labplot on Kali Linux. labplot is interactive graphing and analysis of scientific data

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install labplot on Kali Linux.

What is labplot

LabPlot provides an easy way to create, manage and edit plots. It allows you to produce plots based on data from a spreadsheet or on data imported from external files. Plots can be exported to several pixmap and vector graphic formats.

Features include:

  • project-based management of data
  • project explorer for management and organization of created objects in different folders and sub-folders
  • spreadsheet with basic functionality for manual data entry or for generation of uniform and non-uniform random numbers
  • import of external ASCII data into the project for further editing and visualization
  • export of spreadsheet to an ASCII file
  • worksheet as the main parent object for plots, labels, etc; supports different layouts and zooming functions
  • export of worksheet to different formats (PDF, EPS, PNG, and SVG)
  • great variety of editing capabilities for properties of worksheet and its objects
  • cartesian plots, created either from imported or manually created data sets or via mathematical equation
  • definition of mathematical formulas is supported by syntax highlighting and completion and by the list of thematically grouped mathematical and physical constants and functions
  • analysis of plotted data is supported by many zooming and navigation features
  • linear and non-linear fits to data, several fit-models are predefined and custom models with arbitrary number of parameters can be provided

There are three ways to install labplot on Kali Linux . We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install labplot Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install labplot using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install labplot

Install labplot Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install labplot using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install labplot

Install labplot Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install labplot using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install labplot

How To Uninstall labplot on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the labplot package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove labplot

Uninstall labplot And Its Dependencies

To uninstall labplot and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove labplot

Remove labplot Configurations and Data

To remove labplot configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge labplot

Remove labplot configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove labplot configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge labplot
