What is jshon

jshon is:

Jshon is a command line utility to parse, read and create JSON. It is designed to be as usable as possible from within the shell and replaces fragile adhoc parsers made from grep/sed/awk as well as heavyweight one-line parsers made from Perl/Python. Jshon loads json text from stdin, performs actions, then displays the last action on stdout.

Json parsing features include: Return data types of values Report data type lengths Sort JSON data by keys In-place editing of JSON files Format or “beautify” JSON (as changing indentation, etc) Create JSON from an empty object Extraction of keys and values

There are three methods to install jshon on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install jshon Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install jshon using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install jshon

Install jshon Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install jshon using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install jshon

Install jshon Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install jshon using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install jshon

How To Uninstall jshon on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the jshon package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove jshon

Uninstall jshon And Its Dependencies

To uninstall jshon and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove jshon

Remove jshon Configurations and Data

To remove jshon configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge jshon

Remove jshon configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
