How To Install gyoto on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install gyoto on Kali Linux. gyoto is General relativistic geodesic integration and ray-tracing

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install gyoto on Kali Linux.

What is gyoto

gyoto is:

Gyoto is a framework for computing geodesics in curved space-times. The gyoto utility program uses this framework to compute images of astronomical objects in the vicinity of compact objects (e.g. black-holes). Such images are distorted by strong gravitational lensing. The gyoto program takes a scenery description in XML format, computes this scenery using relativistic ray-tracing, and saves the result in FITS format.

This metapackage depends on all the Gyoto interfaces (command-line, Python 3 and Yorick).

MPI parallelization requires the mpi-default-bin package. The Gyoto documentation is provided in the gyoto-doc package.

There are three methods to install gyoto on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install gyoto Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install gyoto using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install gyoto

Install gyoto Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install gyoto using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install gyoto

Install gyoto Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install gyoto using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install gyoto

How To Uninstall gyoto on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the gyoto package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove gyoto

Uninstall gyoto And Its Dependencies

To uninstall gyoto and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove gyoto

Remove gyoto Configurations and Data

To remove gyoto configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge gyoto

Remove gyoto configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove gyoto configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge gyoto

Dependencies

gyoto have the following dependencies:
