What is gsasl

GNU SASL is an implementation of the Simple Authentication and Security Layer framework and a few common SASL mechanisms. SASL is used by network servers (e.g., IMAP, SMTP) to request authentication from clients, and in clients to authenticate against servers.

This package contains the GNU SASL command line tool.

There are three ways to install gsasl on Kali Linux . We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install gsasl Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install gsasl using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install gsasl

Install gsasl Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install gsasl using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install gsasl

Install gsasl Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install gsasl using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install gsasl

How To Uninstall gsasl on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the gsasl package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove gsasl

Uninstall gsasl And Its Dependencies

To uninstall gsasl and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove gsasl

Remove gsasl Configurations and Data

To remove gsasl configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge gsasl

Remove gsasl configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove gsasl configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge gsasl
