What is gpac

gpac is:

GPAC stands for GPAC Project on Advanced Content (a recursive acronym). It is an Open Source multimedia framework for research and academic purposes. The project covers different aspects of multimedia, with a focus on presentation technologies (graphics, animation and interactivity).

This package contains the following utilities:

  • MP4Client (content packaging)
  • MP4Box

There are three methods to install gpac on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install gpac Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install gpac using apt-get by running the following command:

How To Uninstall gpac on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the gpac package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove gpac

To uninstall gpac and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove gpac

Remove gpac Configurations and Data

To remove gpac configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge gpac
