What is deluge

deluge is:

Deluge is a full-featured, multi-platform, multi-interface BitTorrent client using libtorrent-rasterbar in it’s backend and featuring multiple user-interfaces: GTK+, web and console.

It has been designed using the client-server model with a daemon process that handles all the bittorrent activity. The Deluge daemon is able to run on headless machines with the user-interfaces being able to connect remotely from any platform.

You may want to install this package to use Deluge in classic mode, which means the daemon and the GTK+ user-interface are linked together.

There are three methods to install deluge on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install deluge Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install deluge using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install deluge

Install deluge Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install deluge using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install deluge

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install deluge using aptitude by running the following command:

How To Uninstall deluge on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the deluge package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove deluge

To uninstall deluge and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove deluge

Remove deluge Configurations and Data

To remove deluge configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge deluge
