Cryptcat is a simple Unix utility which reads and writes data across network connections, using TCP or UDP protocol while encrypting the data being transmitted. It is designed to be a reliable “back-end” tool that can be used directly or easily driven by other programs and scripts. At the same time, it is a feature-rich network debugging and exploration tool, since it can create almost any kind of connection you would need and has several interesting built-in capabilities.

There are three methods to install cryptcat on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install cryptcat Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install cryptcat using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install cryptcat

Install cryptcat Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install cryptcat using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install cryptcat

Install cryptcat Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install cryptcat using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install cryptcat

How To Uninstall cryptcat on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the cryptcat package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove cryptcat

Uninstall cryptcat And Its Dependencies

To uninstall cryptcat and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove cryptcat

Remove cryptcat Configurations and Data

To remove cryptcat configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge cryptcat

Remove cryptcat configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove cryptcat configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
