What is bytecode-viewer

This package contains Bytecode Viewer (BCV). It is an Advanced Lightweight Java Bytecode Viewer, GUI Java Decompiler, GUI Bytecode Editor, GUI Smali, GUI Baksmali, GUI APK Editor, GUI Dex Editor, GUI APK Decompiler, GUI DEX Decompiler, GUI Procyon Java Decompiler, GUI Krakatau, GUI CFR Java Decompiler, GUI FernFlower Java Decompiler, GUI DEX2Jar, GUI Jar2DEX, GUI Jar-Jar, Hex Viewer, Code Searcher, Debugger and more.

There is also a plugin system that will allow you to interact with the loaded classfiles, for example you can write a String deobfuscator, a malicious code searcher, or something else you can think of. You can either use one of the pre-written plugins, or write your own. It supports groovy scripting. Once a plugin is activated, it will execute the plugin with a ClassNode ArrayList of every single class loaded in BCV, this allows the user to handle it completely using ASM.

There are three methods to install bytecode-viewer on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install bytecode-viewer Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install bytecode-viewer using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install bytecode-viewer

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install bytecode-viewer using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install bytecode-viewer

Install bytecode-viewer Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install bytecode-viewer using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install bytecode-viewer

How To Uninstall bytecode-viewer on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the bytecode-viewer package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove bytecode-viewer

Uninstall bytecode-viewer And Its Dependencies

To uninstall bytecode-viewer and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove bytecode-viewer

Remove bytecode-viewer Configurations and Data

To remove bytecode-viewer configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge bytecode-viewer
