How To Install arduino-core-avr on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install arduino-core-avr on Kali Linux. arduino-core-avr is Arduino Core for AVR microcontroller

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install arduino-core-avr on Kali Linux.

What is arduino-core-avr

arduino-core-avr is:

This package contains the source code and configuration files of the Arduino Core for Atmel’s AVR microcontroller used on the Arduino Y?n, Uno, Uno WiFi, Diecimila, Nano, Mega, MegaADK, Leonardo, Leonardo Ethernet, Micro, Esplora, Min, Ethernet, Fio, BT, LilyPadUSB, Lilypad, Pro, ATMegaNG, Robot Control, Robot Motor, Gemma, Y?n Mini and Industrial 101.

It also contains some basic interfaces for interacting with the internal non-volatile storage (aka EEPROM) in AVR based Arduino boards. Also interfaces for interacting with plugable USB infrastructure (HID), for the Serial Programming Interface (SPI), for serial communication on any digital pins and for communicaton by I2C and Two Wire Interfaces devices.

Please note that the firmware for the Arduino WiFi Shield is not included (in contrary to the official upstream archive) due it’s non DFSG compliance! Also some *.hex files are excluded as they are not rebuildable.

There are three methods to install arduino-core-avr on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install arduino-core-avr Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install arduino-core-avr using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install arduino-core-avr

Install arduino-core-avr Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install arduino-core-avr using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install arduino-core-avr

Install arduino-core-avr Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install arduino-core-avr using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install arduino-core-avr

How To Uninstall arduino-core-avr on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the arduino-core-avr package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove arduino-core-avr

Uninstall arduino-core-avr And Its Dependencies

To uninstall arduino-core-avr and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove arduino-core-avr

Remove arduino-core-avr Configurations and Data

To remove arduino-core-avr configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge arduino-core-avr

Remove arduino-core-avr configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove arduino-core-avr configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge arduino-core-avr

Dependencies

arduino-core-avr have the following dependencies:
