What is zsh-common

zsh-common is:

Zsh is a UNIX command interpreter (shell) usable as an interactive login shell and as a shell script command processor. Of the standard shells, zsh most closely resembles ksh but includes many enhancements. Zsh has command-line editing, built-in spelling correction, programmable command completion, shell functions (with autoloading), a history mechanism, and a host of other features.

This package contains the common zsh files shared by all architectures.

There are three methods to install zsh-common on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install zsh-common Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install zsh-common using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install zsh-common

Install zsh-common Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install zsh-common using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install zsh-common

Install zsh-common Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install zsh-common using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install zsh-common
