How To Install znc on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install znc on Kali Linux.
What is znc
znc is:
znc is an IRC proxy. It runs as a daemon and connects to IRC server, then allows you to connect from a workstation and work as the user that is logged in to the IRC server. After you disconnect, it maintains the connection to the server. It acts like any normal IRC server, so you can use any IRC client to connect to it.
Some of its features include support for multiple users, multiple clients, and multiple IRC servers; playback buffers to catch up with what happened while you were detached, SSL encryption, DCC proxying, and a plugin interface with many plugins supporting other features.
There are three methods to install znc on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install znc Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install znc using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install zncInstall znc Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install znc using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install zncInstall znc Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install znc using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install zncHow To Uninstall znc on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the znc package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove zncUninstall znc And Its Dependencies
To uninstall znc and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove zncRemove znc Configurations and Data
To remove znc configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge zncRemove znc configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove znc configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge zncDependencies
