How To Install zeitgeist on Debian 10

In this tutorial we learn how to install zeitgeist on Debian 10.
What is zeitgeist
zeitgeist is:
Zeitgeist is a service which logs the user’s activities and events (files opened, websites visited, conversations held with other people, etc.) and makes the relevant information available to other applications.
It serves as a comprehensive activity log and also makes it possible to determine relationships between items based on usage patterns.
This metapackage depends on the Zeitgeist engine and a set of packages (such as data providers) commonly used together with it.
There are three methods to install zeitgeist on Debian 10. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install zeitgeist Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install zeitgeist using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install zeitgeist
Install zeitgeist Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install zeitgeist using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install zeitgeist
Install zeitgeist Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install zeitgeist using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install zeitgeist
How To Uninstall zeitgeist on Debian 10
To uninstall only the zeitgeist package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove zeitgeist
Uninstall zeitgeist And Its Dependencies
To uninstall zeitgeist and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 10, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove zeitgeist
Remove zeitgeist Configurations and Data
To remove zeitgeist configuration and data from Debian 10 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge zeitgeist
