In this tutorial we learn how to install zchunk-libs on CentOS 7.
What is zchunk-libs
zchunk is a compressed file format that splits the file into independent chunks. This allows you to only download the differences when downloading a new version of the file, and also makes zchunk files efficient over rsync. zchunk files are protected with strong checksums to verify that the file you downloaded is in fact the file you wanted. This package contains the zchunk library, libzck.
We can use yum or dnf to install zchunk-libs on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install zchunk-libs.
Install zchunk-libs on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install zchunk-libs using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install zchunk-libs
Install zchunk-libs on CentOS 7 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install zchunk-libs using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install zchunk-libs
How To Uninstall zchunk-libs on CentOS 7
To uninstall only the zchunk-libs package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove zchunk-libs
