How To Install yorick-full on Debian 9
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install yorick-full
on Debian 9.
What is yorick-full
yorick-full is:
Yorick is an interpreted programming language for:
- scientific simulations or calculations
- postprocessing or steering large simulation codes
- interactive scientific graphics
- reading, writing, and translating large files of numbers
The yorick-full metapackage installs Yorick together with the full set of add-ons packaged for Debian.
You may prefer to only install the yorick package and cherry-pick the yorick-* add-ons you need.
If you need MPY, the MPI parallel version of Yorick, please install either yorick-mpy-openmpi or yorick-mpy-mpich2 in addition.
There are three methods to install yorick-full
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install yorick-full Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install yorick-full
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install yorick-full
Install yorick-full Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install yorick-full
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install yorick-full
Install yorick-full Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install yorick-full
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install yorick-full
How To Uninstall yorick-full on Debian 9
To uninstall only the yorick-full
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove yorick-full
Uninstall yorick-full And Its Dependencies
To uninstall yorick-full
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove yorick-full
Remove yorick-full Configurations and Data
To remove yorick-full
configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge yorick-full
Remove yorick-full configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove yorick-full
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge yorick-full
