How To Install yodl on Debian 12
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install yodl on Debian 12.
What is yodl
yodl is:
Yodl is a package that implements a pre-document language and tools to process it. The idea of Yodl is that you write up a document in a pre-language, then use the tools (e.g. yodl2html) to convert it to some final document language. Current converters are for HTML, man, LaTeX SGML and texinfo, a poor-man’s text converter and an experimental xml converter. Main document types are “article”, “report”, “book”, “manpage” and “letter”. The Yodl document language was designed to be easy to use and extensible.
There are three methods to install yodl on Debian 12. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install yodl Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install yodl using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install yodl
Install yodl Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install yodl using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install yodl
Install yodl Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install yodl using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install yodl
How To Uninstall yodl on Debian 12
To uninstall only the yodl package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove yodl
Uninstall yodl And Its Dependencies
To uninstall yodl and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 12, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove yodl
Remove yodl Configurations and Data
To remove yodl configuration and data from Debian 12 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge yodl
