How To Install yaws-yapp on Debian 11

In this tutorial we learn how to install yaws-yapp on Debian 11.
What is yaws-yapp
yaws-yapp is:
Yaws-yapp (Yaws application handler) is a helper application. It takes care of adding, and removing, the applications into a running server. When anyone access the server with an URL that matches the path for an added application, the docroot will be temporarily switched to where the web pages for that application are located.
This package provides Yapp config file which is intended to use along with fully installed Yaws webserver.
There are three methods to install yaws-yapp on Debian 11. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install yaws-yapp Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install yaws-yapp using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install yaws-yapp
Install yaws-yapp Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install yaws-yapp using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install yaws-yapp
Install yaws-yapp Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install yaws-yapp using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install yaws-yapp
How To Uninstall yaws-yapp on Debian 11
To uninstall only the yaws-yapp package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove yaws-yapp
Uninstall yaws-yapp And Its Dependencies
To uninstall yaws-yapp and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 11, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove yaws-yapp
Remove yaws-yapp Configurations and Data
To remove yaws-yapp configuration and data from Debian 11 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge yaws-yapp
Remove yaws-yapp configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove yaws-yapp configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge yaws-yapp
