How To Install yasat on Ubuntu 18.04
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install yasat on Ubuntu 18.04.
What is yasat
yasat is:
YASAT (Yet Another Stupid Audit Tool) goal is to be as simple as possible with minimum binary dependencies (only sed, grep and cut). Second goal is to document each test with maximum information and links to official documentation. It do many tests for checking security configuration issue or others good practice. It checks many software configurations like: Apache, Bind DNS, CUPS, PHP, kernel configuration, MySQL, network configuration, openvpn, Packages update, samba, snmpd, squid, syslog, tomcat, user accounting, vsftpd, xinetd.
There are three methods to install yasat on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install yasat Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install yasat using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install yasat
Install yasat Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install yasat using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install yasat
Install yasat Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install yasat using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install yasat
How To Uninstall yasat on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the yasat package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove yasat
Uninstall yasat And Its Dependencies
To uninstall yasat and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove yasat
Remove yasat Configurations and Data
To remove yasat configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge yasat
Remove yasat configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove yasat configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge yasat
