How To Install yakuake on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install yakuake on Kali Linux.
What is yakuake
yakuake is:
YaKuake is inspired from the terminal in the Quake game: when you press a key (by default F12, but that can be changed) a terminal window slides down from the top of the screen. Press the key again, and the terminal slides back.
It is faster than a keyboard shortcut because it is already loaded into memory and as such is very useful to anyone who frequently finds themselves switching in and out of terminal sessions.
There are three methods to install yakuake on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install yakuake Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install yakuake using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install yakuakeInstall yakuake Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install yakuake using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install yakuakeInstall yakuake Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install yakuake using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install yakuakeHow To Uninstall yakuake on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the yakuake package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove yakuakeUninstall yakuake And Its Dependencies
To uninstall yakuake and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove yakuakeRemove yakuake Configurations and Data
To remove yakuake configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge yakuakeRemove yakuake configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove yakuake configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge yakuakeDependencies
