How To Install xvile on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install xvile on Kali Linux.
What is xvile
xvile is:
vile is a text editor which is extremely compatible with vi in terms of ``finger feel’’. In addition, it has extended capabilities in many areas, notably multi-file editing and viewing, syntax highlighting, key rebinding, an optional embedded perl interpreter, and real X window system support.
This package contains the X11 binary. Required support files are contained in vile-common. Source code highlighting filters are in vile-filters. A character-mode binary is in the vile package.
There are three methods to install xvile on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install xvile Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install xvile using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install xvileInstall xvile Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install xvile using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install xvileInstall xvile Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install xvile using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install xvileHow To Uninstall xvile on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the xvile package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove xvileUninstall xvile And Its Dependencies
To uninstall xvile and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove xvileRemove xvile Configurations and Data
To remove xvile configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge xvileRemove xvile configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove xvile configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge xvileDependencies
