How To Install xtrabackup on Ubuntu 18.04

In 2.2.x, the XtraBackup package name was rebranded to percona-xtrabackup. This package is an empty dummy package that depends on percona-xtrabackup, and replaces older versions of xtrabackup (2.0.0). It is not intended to be installed manually.
There are three methods to install xtrabackup
on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get

sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install xtrabackup

After updating apt database, We can install xtrabackup

sudo apt -y install xtrabackup
Install xtrabackup Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install xtrabackup
using aptitude

sudo aptitude -y install xtrabackup
How To Uninstall xtrabackup on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the xtrabackup
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove xtrabackup
Uninstall xtrabackup And Its Dependencies
To uninstall xtrabackup
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove xtrabackup
Remove xtrabackup Configurations and Data
To remove xtrabackup
configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge xtrabackup
Remove xtrabackup configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
