How To Install xsettingsd on Rocky Linux 8

In this tutorial we learn how to install xsettingsd
on Rocky Linux 8.
What is xsettingsd
xsettingsd is a daemon that implements the XSETTINGS specification. It is intended to be small, fast, and minimally dependent on other libraries. It can serve as an alternative to gnome-settings-daemon for users who are not using the GNOME desktop environment but who still run GTK+ applications and want to configure things such as themes, font anti-aliasing/hinting, and UI sound effects.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install xsettingsd
on Rocky Linux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install xsettingsd.
Install xsettingsd on Rocky Linux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install xsettingsd
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install xsettingsd
Install xsettingsd on Rocky Linux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install xsettingsd
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install xsettingsd
How To Uninstall xsettingsd on Rocky Linux 8
To uninstall only the xsettingsd
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove xsettingsd
