How To Install xrestop on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install xrestop on Kali Linux.
What is xrestop
xrestop is:
xrestop uses the X-Resource extension to provide top(1)-like statistics for each connected X11 client’s server-side resource usage. It is intended as a developer tool to aid more efficient server resource usage and debug server-side resource leakage.
xrestop requires the X-Resource extension, supported by XFree86 4.3 and above, and by the freedesktop.org X server.
There are three methods to install xrestop on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install xrestop Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install xrestop using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install xrestopInstall xrestop Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install xrestop using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install xrestopInstall xrestop Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install xrestop using aptitude by running the following command:

To uninstall only the xrestop package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove xrestopUninstall xrestop And Its Dependencies
To uninstall xrestop and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove xrestopRemove xrestop Configurations and Data
To remove xrestop configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge xrestopRemove xrestop configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
