How To Install xphoon on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install xphoon on Kali Linux.
What is xphoon
xphoon is:
xphoon sets the X root window to a picture of the moon in its current phase, including the partial lighting of the dark side by reflected earthlight. Picture is a monochrome dithered bitmap which is calculated via mathematical formulae. It keeps running on background updating the picture accordingly as time goes by.
There are three methods to install xphoon on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install xphoon Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install xphoon using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install xphoonInstall xphoon Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install xphoon using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install xphoonInstall xphoon Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install xphoon using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install xphoonHow To Uninstall xphoon on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the xphoon package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove xphoonUninstall xphoon And Its Dependencies
To uninstall xphoon and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove xphoonRemove xphoon Configurations and Data
To remove xphoon configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge xphoonRemove xphoon configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove xphoon configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge xphoonDependencies
