How To Install xorg-dev on Debian 9

X Window System design documentation, manual pages, library reference works, static versions of the shared libraries, and C header files are supplied by the packages depended on by this metapackage.
Note that this is a convenience package for users and is not a package for Debian developers to have their package depend on.
There are three methods to install xorg-dev
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install xorg-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install xorg-dev
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install xorg-dev

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install xorg-dev
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install xorg-dev
Install xorg-dev Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install xorg-dev
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install xorg-dev
How To Uninstall xorg-dev on Debian 9
To uninstall only the xorg-dev
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove xorg-dev
Uninstall xorg-dev And Its Dependencies
To uninstall xorg-dev
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove xorg-dev
Remove xorg-dev Configurations and Data
To remove xorg-dev
configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge xorg-dev
Remove xorg-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove xorg-dev
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
