How To Install xlog on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install xlog on Kali Linux.
What is xlog
xlog is:
xlog is a logging program for amateur radio operators which can be used for daily logging and contest. Logs are stored into a text file.
QSO’s are presented in a list. Items in the list can be added, deleted or updated. For each contact, dxcc information is displayed and bearings and distance is calculated, both short and long path.
When hamlib is enabled through the menu, you can retrieve frequency, mode and signal-strength from your rig over the serial port.
There are three methods to install xlog on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install xlog Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install xlog using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install xlogInstall xlog Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install xlog using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install xlogInstall xlog Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install xlog using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install xlogHow To Uninstall xlog on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the xlog package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove xlogUninstall xlog And Its Dependencies
To uninstall xlog and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove xlogRemove xlog Configurations and Data
To remove xlog configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge xlogRemove xlog configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove xlog configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge xlogDependencies
