What is xl2tpd

xl2tpd is:

xl2tpd is an open source implementation of the L2TP tunneling protocol (RFC2661). xl2tpd is forked from l2tpd and is maintained by Xelerance Corporation.

The main purpose of this protocol is to tunnel PPP frames through IP networks. It implements both LAC and LNS role in the L2TP networking architecture.

There are three methods to install xl2tpd on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install xl2tpd Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install xl2tpd using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install xl2tpd

Install xl2tpd Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install xl2tpd using apt by running the following command:

Install xl2tpd Using aptitude
