How To Install xkbind on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install xkbind on Kali Linux.
What is xkbind
xkbind is:
The XkbInd program (X Keyboard Extension Indicator) is a minimal indicator of keyboard layout (XKB group) for the X Window System; it indicates current keyboard layout in the title of top-level windows via prefix to the original string. It also allows to simulate independent keyboard layout for each handled window and it works with most of the window managers, including twm, mwm and fvwm. WARNING: This program assumes the standard X input focus handling, so it will not work with some GUI toolkits.
There are three methods to install xkbind on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install xkbind Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install xkbind using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install xkbindInstall xkbind Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install xkbind using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install xkbindInstall xkbind Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install xkbind using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install xkbindHow To Uninstall xkbind on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the xkbind package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove xkbindUninstall xkbind And Its Dependencies
To uninstall xkbind and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove xkbindRemove xkbind Configurations and Data
To remove xkbind configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge xkbindRemove xkbind configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove xkbind configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge xkbindDependencies
