How To Install xiccd on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install xiccd on Kali Linux.
What is xiccd
xiccd is:
xiccd is a simple bridge between colord and X. It performs the following tasks:
- Enumerating displays and registering them in colord;
- Creating default ICC profiles based on EDID data;
- Applying ICC profiles provided by colord;
- Maintaining the user’s private ICC storage directory.
It does not depend on any particular desktop environment nor toolkit and it should not be used in desktop environments that support color management natively, like GNOME and KDE do.
There are three methods to install xiccd on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install xiccd Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install xiccd using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install xiccdInstall xiccd Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install xiccd using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install xiccdInstall xiccd Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install xiccd using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install xiccdHow To Uninstall xiccd on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the xiccd package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove xiccdUninstall xiccd And Its Dependencies
To uninstall xiccd and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove xiccdRemove xiccd Configurations and Data
To remove xiccd configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge xiccdRemove xiccd configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove xiccd configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge xiccdDependencies
