What is xfsprogs

xfsprogs is:

A set of commands to use the XFS filesystem, including mkfs.xfs.

XFS is a high performance journaling filesystem which originated on the SGI IRIX platform. It is completely multi-threaded, can support large files and large filesystems, extended attributes, variable block sizes, is extent based, and makes extensive use of Btrees (directories, extents, free space) to aid both performance and scalability.

There are three methods to install xfsprogs on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install xfsprogs Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install xfsprogs using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install xfsprogs

Install xfsprogs Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install xfsprogs using apt by running the following command:
