How To Install xfonts-utils on Debian 10

on Debian 10.
What is xfonts-utils
xfonts-utils is:
xfonts-utils provides a set of utility programs shipped with the X Window System that are needed for font management.
The programs in this package include:
- bdftopcf, which converts BDF fonts to PCF fonts;
- bdftruncate and ucs2any, tools to generate fonts with various encodings from ISO 10646-encoded fonts
- mkfontdir, a program to generate fonts.dir files;
- mkfontscale, a program to generate fonts.scale files;
- fonttosfnt, a program to wrap bitmap fonts in a sfnt (TrueType) wrapper.
There are three methods to install xfonts-utils
on Debian 10. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude

Install xfonts-utils Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install xfonts-utils
using apt-get

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install xfonts-utils
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install xfonts-utils
How To Uninstall xfonts-utils on Debian 10
To uninstall only the xfonts-utils
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove xfonts-utils
Uninstall xfonts-utils And Its Dependencies
To uninstall xfonts-utils
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 10, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove xfonts-utils
Remove xfonts-utils Configurations and Data
To remove xfonts-utils
configuration and data from Debian 10 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge xfonts-utils
