What is xfonts-75dpi
xfonts-75dpi is:
xfonts-75dpi provides a set of bitmapped fonts at 75 dots per inch. In most cases it is desirable to have the X font server (xfs) and/or an X server installed to make the fonts available to X clients.
This package contains only fonts in the ISO 10646-1 and ISO 8859-1 encodings, to conserve disk space. For other encodings, see the xfonts-75dpi-transcoded package.
This package and xfonts-100dpi provide the same set of fonts, rendered at different resolutions; only one or the other is necessary, but both may be installed. xfonts-75dpi may be more suitable for small monitors and/or small screen resolutions (under 1024x768).
This package requires the xfonts-utils package to prepare the font directories for use by an X server or X font server.
There are three methods to install xfonts-75dpi on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install xfonts-75dpi Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install xfonts-75dpi using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install xfonts-75dpi

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install xfonts-75dpi using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install xfonts-75dpi
Install xfonts-75dpi Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install xfonts-75dpi using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install xfonts-75dpi
How To Uninstall xfonts-75dpi on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the xfonts-75dpi package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove xfonts-75dpi
Uninstall xfonts-75dpi And Its Dependencies
To uninstall xfonts-75dpi and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove xfonts-75dpi
Remove xfonts-75dpi Configurations and Data
To remove xfonts-75dpi configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge xfonts-75dpi
Remove xfonts-75dpi configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove xfonts-75dpi configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge xfonts-75dpi
