How To Install xfonts-100dpi on Ubuntu 18.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install xfonts-100dpi on Ubuntu 18.04.
What is xfonts-100dpi
xfonts-100dpi is:
xfonts-100dpi provides a set of bitmapped fonts at 100 dots per inch. In most cases it is desirable to have the X font server (xfs) and/or an X server installed to make the fonts available to X clients.
This package contains only fonts in the ISO 10646-1 and ISO 8859-1 encodings, to conserve disk space. For other encodings, see the xfonts-100dpi-transcoded package.
This package and xfonts-75dpi provide the same set of fonts, rendered at different resolutions; only one or the other is necessary, but both may be installed. xfonts-100dpi may be more suitable for large monitors and/or large screen resolutions (over 1024x768).
This package requires the xfonts-utils package to prepare the font directories for use by an X server or X font server.
There are three methods to install xfonts-100dpi on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install xfonts-100dpi Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install xfonts-100dpi using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install xfonts-100dpi
Install xfonts-100dpi Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install xfonts-100dpi using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install xfonts-100dpi
Install xfonts-100dpi Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install xfonts-100dpi using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install xfonts-100dpi
How To Uninstall xfonts-100dpi on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the xfonts-100dpi package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove xfonts-100dpi
Uninstall xfonts-100dpi And Its Dependencies
To uninstall xfonts-100dpi and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove xfonts-100dpi
Remove xfonts-100dpi Configurations and Data
To remove xfonts-100dpi configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge xfonts-100dpi
Remove xfonts-100dpi configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove xfonts-100dpi configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge xfonts-100dpi
