What is xfdashboard

Xfdashboard provides a GNOME shell dashboard like interface for use with Xfce desktop. It can be configured to run to any keyboard shortcut and when executed provides an overview of applications currently open enabling the user to switch between different applications. The search feature works like Xfce’s app finder which makes it convenient to search for and start applications.

We can use yum or dnf to install xfdashboard on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install xfdashboard.

Install xfdashboard on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install xfdashboard using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install xfdashboard

Install xfdashboard on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install xfdashboard using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install xfdashboard

How To Uninstall xfdashboard on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the xfdashboard package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove xfdashboard
