How To Install xfce4-session on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install xfce4-session on Kali Linux.
What is xfce4-session
xfce4-session is:
xfce4-session is an X11-compliant “session manager” designed for use with the Xfce4 Desktop Environment. On log out, the session manager saves the state of all your running applications. When you log back in, the session manager restores the same applications with the same window positions.
There are three methods to install xfce4-session on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install xfce4-session Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install xfce4-session using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install xfce4-sessionInstall xfce4-session Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install xfce4-session using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install xfce4-sessionInstall xfce4-session Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install xfce4-session using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install xfce4-sessionHow To Uninstall xfce4-session on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the xfce4-session package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove xfce4-sessionUninstall xfce4-session And Its Dependencies
To uninstall xfce4-session and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove xfce4-sessionRemove xfce4-session Configurations and Data
To remove xfce4-session configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge xfce4-sessionRemove xfce4-session configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove xfce4-session configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge xfce4-sessionDependencies
